Bernard’s Quality Cars and Service is truly a family business in so many ways. “Were a three generation family business and we’ve sold vehicles to three generations of several families. Many of our customers have been coming back to us for years. They really are like family,” says Terry Bernard, the founder’s son.

Terry’s dad and mom, Archie and Pat, started the business at the current location on Highway 10 in Flesherton in 1973.

“I learned a lot about cars and customer service from watching my folks,” Terry says. Terry took over the business from his parents in 1986 and was later joined by his wife, MaryLynn. Most recently, daughters Jessica and Stefanie have joined the Bernard’s team full time.

Service is an important part of the business and in 2006, Bernard’s became a Napa AutoPro partner. “We’ve expanded over the years to six service bays with two technicians and two apprentices,” Terry says.

And, it’s not all business for the Bernard family. Bernard’s family members are active supporters of many service clubs and charitable groups, such as the Kinsmen, and they were the 2011/2012 season sponsor for the Grey Bruce Dragon Boat Club. And the community has recognized their support. Each year the local Chamber presents the Archie Bernard Business of the Year Award to the local business that, like Bernard’s Quality Cars and Service, supports employment, expansion, innovation and community service.
